Pétanque Antibes

Like in many places in Southern France, while wandering in Antibes you are likely to come upon some “pétanque” players. This game of “boules” is a very old one, but its current version dates back to 1910, when it was established that the balls had to be made of steel. The rules are very simple: you just have to throw your ball as close as possible to the “cochonnet” (a small wooden ball which is thrown at the beginning of the game). Any open space, such as a city square or park, can be used as a “terrain” (playing area); the irregularities of the ground will add to the fun of the game! The players in my picture above have chosen an area next to the Museum of Archeology (bastion Saint-André).

Why not find your own “terrain” and enjoy yourself as well?
